I’m sure many of you will have been watching at 7pm last night to hear Boris Johnson’s address to the nation. Whilst he made some announcements – the most significant for us being the proposal to begin reopening schools from the first of June, starting with Reception and Year 1 – we await further guidance as to how the Government advise this can be done.
Please be assured that we are making plans in the background and as soon as I am able to do so I will update you regarding our strategy to reopen and the measures we can take to minimise risk and keep children and staff as safe as possible.
We do have to be realistic and I ask you as parents to understand that social distancing within a first school is near on impossible. As a staff we will do all we can (as always) to keep the children safe and follow guidance as much as possible. However, the nature of young children and the interactions that a) they have with each other and b) we have with them mean they are very likely to be in contact with others while in school. What we will do is ensure children have limited exposure to others by organising them in smaller groups and encouraging social distancing measures wherever practically possible. This will involve making adjustments to the school environment and to the structure of the day.
As professionals and parents we all have many questions we seek the answers to. Over the coming days I will continue to discuss the logistics of Government advice with our own team as well as with Mr Bowers and Miss Parker as Headteachers of our other MAT schools
As I said, as soon as I have more information I will of course update you further.
Once again, assuring you that we will continue to make decisions following guidance and advice as well as in the best interests of our children.
Thank you for your patience, support and trust during such uncertainty.
Best wishes,
Mrs Ferretti
