A love of reading has been celebrated in style this week with World Book Day and the arrival of our Book Fair. The children had a wonderful day on Thursday and looked absolutely fantastic in their outfits (the staff looked great too!!)
A range of activities were enjoyed in class with children also enjoying a ‘Class Swap Storytime’ during which teachers moved around school to share a favourite story with different classes.
Our Book Fair has got off to a great start with lots of children visiting and enjoying selecting a new book to read at home. If you and your child haven’t yet had a look, it will be open again on Monday and Tuesday after school in the school hall. Each child is entitled to a £1 voucher which will be deducted off the book of their choice when they pay.
Our Year 2 children represented Birches brilliantly on Monday during their visit to ThinkTank Museum in Birmingham. The visit, which links to their ‘Famous For Five Minutes’ topic, supported their STEM learning as well as developing an understanding of some significant figures in history. Thank you to the staff and helpers who helped give the children such a fantastic day.
Next week our Year 4 children will be packing their bags and setting off on their residential to Kingswood. We are sure they will have an amazing time, achieve lots and make many happy memories!
Have a lovely weekend all!
Best wishes,
Mrs Ferretti
